Packers activate RB Jacobs for 2026 debut after time on exempt list (0:58)

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Packers running back Josh Jacobs will make his 2026 season debut Sunday against the Detroit Lions after spending the first six weeks on the NFL's commissioner exempt list.

Green Bay added him to the active roster from exempt status Saturday. The NFL took Jacobs off the exempt list Monday.

The NFL's investigation of Jacobs for potential violations of the personal conduct policy following his arrest earlier this year on misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor destruction of property charges remains active, and a suspension could be equal to or greater than the number of games he already missed. The six games he has missed would be credited toward any suspension.

For now, Jacobs is cleared to play.

Jacobs pleaded no contest Sept. 10 to the charges resulting from the May 23 incident with a woman at his home near Green Bay. He was convicted of battery and fined $1,000 and reached a deferred judgment agreement on the property damage charge.

Without Jacobs, the Packers have had the worst running game in the NFL, ranking last in rushing yards per game at 59.8 yards. Jacobs was the Packers' leading rusher the previous two seasons, ranking eighth in the league in combined rushing yards (2,258) and tied for fourth in rushing touchdowns (28) during the 2024 and 2025 seasons.

The Packers also signed WR/KR Coleman Owen to the active roster off the practice squad, elevated edge rusher Arron Mosby from the practice squad for game day, and activated defensive tackle Jordon Riley off the physically unable to perform list.
