The Milwaukee Brewers' National League championship party Thursday night was 44 years in the making. And the organization added a distinct touch to the celebration to ensure that plenty of former players who were part of that long wait were recognized.
Champagne being used in a pennant celebration is standard fare in sports. What set the Brewers' celebration apart wasn't the contents of the bottles -- it was the labels.
Milwaukee paid homage to the club's history -- and its long wait for a second pennant -- with specially designed champagne bottle labels. Each label honors a different player from Brewers postseason teams past and present, with the wrapping listing a players' name and the year(s) they suited up for Milwaukee in the postseason.
A vintage bottle of 1981 Rollie Fingers? You bet. Or what about a more recent addition, like a 2026 David Hamilton? That was ready to roll, too.
According to MLB.com's Adam McCalvy, every player who played in at least one postseason game for the club had their own bottle label.

It's not the first time this fall that the Brewers have used labels on locker room champagne bottles as a tribute. After Milwaukee won the National League Division Series against the San Diego Padres, bottles used in the celebration had labels adorned with the names of different Wisconsin cities.
Will the Brewers have any more special labels ready if the club captures its first World Series? Fans around the Badger State are four wins from finding out.
