The Tampa Bay Rays have acquired catcher Liam Hicks in a trade with the Miami Marlins.
The Marlins received three prospects: right-handed pitcher Jacob Kisting and infielders Brayden Taylor and Adrian Santana.
Hicks, 27, is hitting .282/.363/.432 with 14 home runs across 409 plate appearances this season. He has walked at a 9.8% clip while striking out just 9.5% of the time.
Also Monday, the Rays bolstered their bullpen by acquiring right-handed reliever Tyler Wells from the Baltimore Orioles for righty Michael Forret.
Wells has appeared in 43 games this season, going 2-2 with four saves and a 2.67 ERA.
The deals come a day after the Rays acquired right-hander Freddy Peralta from the New York Mets for three prospects.
