Chelsea kept up the pace at the top of the Women's Super League with a 3-0 win at West Ham.

The Blues, who had battled to a 0-0 draw away to Lyon in their midweek Champions League tie, had initially struggled to convert their dominance as the home side dug in.

Melvine Malard eventually made the breakthrough ahead of half-time, before Keira Walsh drilled in a fine strike with 10 minutes left.

Maika Hamano headed in a late third as Sonia Bompastor's team went into the international break still unbeaten in the WSL, with four wins from five matches.

Chelsea made a bright start at the Chigwell Construction Stadium, as Sjoeke Nüsken fired the ball over from a cross by Walsh before Ellie Carpenter's shot from the edge of a crowded penalty area was blocked behind for a corner.

Malard eventually put the visitors ahead in the 38th minute.

Nusken won possession as West Ham looked to play out from the back, and the ball dropped for Malard to turn and fire her shot into the far corner.

Chelsea continued their dominance of possession through into the second half.

Walsh collected the ball on the edge of the West Ham box and sent her volley just wide.

The England international went close again when she clipped a low shot from the edge of the box past the dive of Irons keeper Constance Picaud, but the ball bounced back off the inside of the post.

Walsh did get her goal in the 80th minute, picking up the ball from Wieke Kaptein just outside the area before drilling it back into the bottom corner.

Hamano added a third with four minutes left, nodding in at the far post after Alyssa Thompson's initial shot had been saved.
