Claudio Ranieri sacked as Leicester manager: A timeline of his tenure

On Thursday, Leicester City announced the sacking of coach Claudio Ranieri, just nine months after he led the club to their first Premier League title.

Ranieri and Leicester have struggled this season, with the Foxes sitting just one point and one position above the relegation zone. But his accomplishments during his time at the club have been immense.

July 13, 2015: Ranieri is announced as new Leicester manager.

Aug. 8, 2015: Leicester open their eventual trophy-winning season with a 4-2 win over Sunderland. Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and Marc Albrighton find the back of the net.

Dec. 14, 2015: Leicester run out 2-1 winners against Chelsea, with Vardy and Mahrez scoring the goals to send them two points clear at the summit in the game that eventually leads to then-Blues boss Jose Mourinho's sacking.

Jan. 13, 2016: Leicester beat Tottenham 1-0 at White Hart Lane. Robert Huth's late header proves the difference as the Foxes draw level on points with Premier League leaders Arsenal in a statement game.

Feb. 2, 2016: A wonder strike from Vardy sees Leicester send out yet another title warning in a 2-0 victory over Liverpool. The striker's brace allows his side to maintain their three-point lead over Manchester City.

Feb. 6, 2016: Leicester thrash then-title favourites Manchester City 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium. Huth scores twice to stun the hosts.

Feb. 23, 2016: A year from what turns out to be the day of his sacking, Ranieri's Leicester are two points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

May 1, 2016: Ten-man Leicester hold on to draw Manchester United 1-1 at Old Trafford, a result that earns them the title a day later.

May 2, 2016: Leicester are crowned Premier League champions, as Tottenham draw 2-2 with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

May 7, 2016: Leicester celebrate being named Premier League champions with a comprehensive 3-1 win against Everton before lifting the trophy.

Aug. 13, 2016: The reigning Premier League champions are stunned in a 2-1 defeat at Hull to kick off their title defence.

Sept. 14, 2016: Leicester mark their Champions League debut in style, as Mahrez's brace lifts the Foxes to a 3-0 win at Club Brugge.

Nov. 22, 2016: The Foxes book a spot in the Champions League knockout stages with a 2-1 result against Club Brugge.

Dec. 10, 2016: Vardy nets a hat trick as Leicester put their poor form behind them, soaring to a 4-2 victory over Manchester City at the King Power Stadium.

Jan. 9, 2017: Ranieri wins Best FIFA Men's Coach of the Year, beating out Portugal national team boss Fernando Santos and Real Madrid's Zinedine Zidane.

Feb. 12, 2017: Leicester lose 2-0 at Swansea in what would be Ranieri's last Premier League match as manager. His team has yet to score in the league in 2017.

Feb. 18, 2017: Leicester are eliminated from the FA Cup, as League One Millwall -- playing with 10 men -- strike in stoppage time to grab a 1-0 win.

Feb. 22, 2017: Vardy scores to give Leicester a lifeline in a 2-1 Champions League round-of-16 defeat at Sevilla.

Feb. 23, 2017: Ranieri is sacked as Leicester manager.
