12:12am A marathon game that began on Sunday and ends on Monday, despite no weather interruptions. RCB have three wins on the board; MI have three losses on the trot. Contrasting trajectories for both at this stage. Anyway, we hope you enjoyed our coverage. We will be back tomorrow with more IPL action. Until then, from all of us here, it is goodbye. Take care, folks!
Phil Salt, Player of the Match: Few highs and a lot of lows, and you cannot ride both, just stay as even as you can. Some of these grounds are not the most bowler-friendly, so you have to keep going at the opposition. You cannot get runs any game, no one can, so try to see if I can impact the game.
Rajat Patidar, RCB captain: Feels amazing. Whenever we come here to Mumbai and this ground, the atmosphere and the fans, playing along with them in a fully-packed stadium - it is an amazing feeling. More clarity about every individual. The way Salt and Virat startedâŠafter that it was a collective effort. Everyone used to say I play spin well but I also love (playing) fast bowling. I feel he (Kohli) is okay.
Hardik Pandya, MI captain: (On if middle-overs wickets derailed MI) Yes, and we conceded way too many as well. Last couple of games, as a bowling unit and as a batting unit, we have been catching up. Really need to reflect and what best we can do, and how we can get the momentum we require. A lot of things need a re-think. But we have to see other options we can have, with the bat and the ball. We need to still bat well and bowl well. If you do that, irrespective of the toss (we should be fine). We are speaking about and talking about how to get some momentum in the powerplay. We are trying to catch up (in batting and bowling). We will see what we can do in the next game. (On Rutherford) When we got him, it was always exciting for us, we knew the potential and power he has. The way he batted, it gives us extra cushion and confidence (if we want to make any changes).
Suyash Sharma: I was thinking about taking wickets. In big chases, you get hit but I also knew the ball would turn. Knew the more I hit the stumps, the more advantageous it will be. If we had lesser runs, might have tried to be more restrictive. Had many runs on the board, so tried to take wickets. (On plans to Tilak and Rickelton) I wanted to bowl in the blockhole. They play well when given width. Wanted to hit the stumps - that's all.
11:51pm That game seemed to go on for an eternity because it did. There were wides, no balls, non-wides, non-no balls, and a whole host of reviews. But when the contest of bat and ball came to the fore, RCB did just enough to hold their nerve. MI did threaten at the start but once Rohit retired hurt due to a right hamstring injury and once Rickelton was dismissed, they could not muster enough momentum to mount a sustained challenge, despite Rutherford enjoying himself at the death.
Krunal was brilliant for the defending champions. Suyash was not shabby either. Rasikh, while he was on the ground, also excelled. The rest took a bit of tap but RCB had a truckload of runs to play with and that ultimately proved pivotal.
