The New York Yankees will place pitcher Max Fried on the 15-day injured list with a left elbow bone bruise, the team announced on Friday.
Fried underwent scans on Thursday that was followed by an examination with Yankees team physician, Dr. Chris Ahmad that revealed a left elbow bone bruise.
The team said more tests in the coming weeks will determine when Fried can resume throwing.
Fried was pulled from Wednesday's 7-0 loss at Baltimore after only three innings because of soreness in his pitching elbow.
"Just a little uncomfortable, tight, especially in between innings," Fried said after the game. "It's hard for me to kind of warm up, loosen up. The first hitter of the inning would be like 88, 90, 91 [mph]. And by the end -- fourth, fifth hitter, 20 pitches in -- I'm able to kind of get things loosened up."
