Eight of the NBA's oldest franchises will wear new "Specter" uniforms this season, the league and Nike announced at a Brooklyn event Wednesday night.

The New York Knicks, Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers, Golden State Warriors, Detroit Pistons, Atlanta Hawks and Sacramento Kings are the teams receiving the new threads.

The uniforms include details inspired by each franchise's history, city heritage and fan culture, according to a news release. They were created specifically for squads with roots dating back to the league's earliest years.

New York, Golden State and Boston are the league's oldest franchises, all founded ahead of the 1946-47 season. The Kings, Lakers and Pistons followed in 1948-49 before the 76ers and Hawks were created a season later. Those franchises have combined for 53 of the NBA's 84 total titles.

The Specter uniform announcement came in conjunction with a new standard issue collection being unveiled with hoodies, pants, T-shirts and shorts. It introduces a new design meant to "revolutionize the look of the NBA for the next generation." All 30 teams will wear the new on-court apparel during warmups, practice and road trips. It becomes part of the league's latest core look throughout the upcoming season.

The collection focuses on the one-of-one hooper, a similar theme to Nike's new Specter uniforms. They are set to be added to those select teams' closets, which also boast Association, Icon, Classic, Statement and City editions. Each respective team did not share when it expects to wear the uniforms.
