Forest Green Rovers owner Dale Vince has revealed that the club are going to try and operate without a manager and "see what happens."

The National League club have been without a head coach for nearly two weeks after Robbie Savage left to join League One side Peterborough United.

But Vince has said that he is comfortable with the current situation, and that the club are not actively seeking a replacement.

"Nobody's in the frame, nobody's connected to the job, at the minute there's no vacancy," he told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

"At the moment, we're going to try something new, we're going to see how it goes and we'll see where it goes."

He added: "I think there's no drama actually, without Robbie. I think we're fine without a manager.

"The thing I see in football is, teams are led by big ego managers, and I'm not sure that they always make the best decisions.

"We're going to try something different to see if we can get a more balanced outcome, decision-making wise. And we're going to run without the big ego manager for a while and see what happens."

Since becoming a major shareholder in 2010, Vince has led the club into a number of outside-the-box ventures, including becoming what he claims is the world's first vegan football club.

The club reached as high as League One in the 2022-23 season, but are now back down in the National League and winless in their last five games.

Nonetheless, Vince insisted the plan was to continue without one individual in the dugout for at least the next few matches.

"We like where we are, we're going to see how it goes, maybe for a few games, maybe for a month," he said.

"The coaching team have been doing the heavy lifting anyway, the day-to-day coaching, they know the team inside out and I think that the three of them make very balanced, rational decisions between them."

Savage, meanwhile, got off to the perfect start on Saturday as Peterborough beat Russell Martin's struggling Leicester 3-1 at the King Power.
