Angry Birds eager to recruit Wayne Rooney following Everton sponsorship

As you may have noticed, Everton have played their last few games with a brand new sponsor logo adorning their shirt sleeves.

The club recently signed a partnership deal with Rovio, the Finnish developers behind the phenomenally successful Angry Birds game.

As such, Rovio are now hoping to immortalise none other than Wayne Rooney in a special Everton-themed version of the Angry Birds franchise.

Ville Heijari, Rovio's chief marketing officer, has revealed that the firm are keen to bring the former England striker on board.

"We have a history of doing Angry Bird homages of real-life characters so obviously now we are in collaboration [with Everton] we can work together to bring interesting characters and profiles into the games," Heijari told the Press Association.

"Potentially Wayne Rooney would be involved. It is not just enough that we reach mobile players; we want to reach sports fans, television spectators, so it is a big audience we are going after."

Of course Rooney is the big name within the Everton squad, but surely Rovio would be better off opting for a flying winger?
