JDT quiet in MSL transfer window as Pahang, PDRM ring changes

With the domestic season set to resume on July 12 after a seven-week break, the transfer window has seen movement aplenty as teams plot big second-half campaigns, with the Malaysia Super League (MSL) and Malaysia Cup running simultaneously.

As the players celebrate the Hari Raya festival, here are the main ins and outs so far, with the transfer window closing on July 15:

JOHOR DARUL TA'ZIM (JDT)

Malaysia Super League (MSL) table toppers Johor Darul Ta'zim have been quiet in the transfer market, despite being linked to a number of players. The only movement came within their camp as Under-19 national defender Dominic Tan and Hasbullah Abu Bakar were promoted from the JDT II squad.

Meanwhile, JDT II saw the arrival of English-born striker Darren Lok. The 25-year-old's father was born in Malacca before moving to the UK as a young adult and may eventually find himself in Johor's top side.

FELDA UNITED

Surprise packages Felda United have yet to make any additions to their squad, even though they have re-registered striker Thiago Fernandes after keen interest from Premier League leaders Melaka United. Felda, however, loaned Ezrie Shafizie and Ferris Danial to the second division high fliers, while former Sarawak hitman Bobby Gonzales left the team for second tier Negri Sembilan.

OUT: Bobby Gonzales (Negri Sembilan), Ezrie Shafizie (Melaka United), Ferris Danial (Melaka United)

SELANGOR

The Red Giants made a surprise move to terminate the services of giant defender Robbie Cornthwaite, despite the Australian showing progress after returning from a lengthy injury layoff. Selangor are slated to replace him along with their foreign strikers, but have so far yet to confirm any signings.

They have denied that they are considering the signing of ex-Pahang striker Dickson Nwakaeme, despite media reports linking the big Nigerian to his former coach Zainal Abidin Hassan, now at Shah Alam.

OUT: Robbie Cornthwaite

T-TEAM

The Titans seem content with the quality of their squad, which has surged to fourth in the MSL after a flourish to the tail-end of their first half campaign. Imports Makan Konate, Patrick Cruz and Dilshod Sharofetdinov, who have scored 11 of the team's 18 goals, are expected to be retained.

KEDAH

The Red Falcons are trialing Senegalese forward Baptiste Faye to beef up their strikeforce which has found the net only 14 times, the second lowest behind PDRM. Not many changes are expected from this young and talented squad, who are looking strong under the guidance of Tan Cheng Hoe.

TERENGGANU

The Turtles have been playing a few friendlies in recent weeks as coach Mike Mulvey attempts to change the fortunes of his side following an unimpreesive start to the MSL earlier in the year. Former national defender Amiridzwan Taj has been released.

PDRM FA

The Cops have acquired the quick feet of Brazilian Guilherme De Paula, who is back in the MSL after playing for Cypriot outfit Ethnikos Achna since he left Selangor. The Brazilian's pace and goals will fill the void left by Ali Ashfaq, who was arguably the club's most prolific signing.

OUT: Ali Ashfaq (released), Shafiq Jamal (released)

KELANTAN

Despite being plagued by non-payments to former players, Kelantan made their first major purchase of the second transfer window with the arrival of Brazilian forward Wander Luiz, who replaced last season's top scorer Dramane Traore. Defensive midfielder Jonatan Lucca has also been given an option to stay, but if he decides to leave, the Red Warriors could sign one of their Australian trialists in Cameron Watson and Diogo Ferreira.

OUT: Dramane Traore (released)

SARAWAK

Only one change to the Crocs so far with Liberian defender Teah Baysah Dennis signed until the end of the season with the mission of helping the team escape relegation. Dennis replaces Italian Davide Grassi who has been released.

OUT: Davide Grassi (released)

PERAK

The Bos Gaurus have secured the services of Albanian journeyman Xhevahir Sukaj after long-time returning coach Karl Heinz Weigang put his faith in the 28-year-old to get Perak's goals for the rest of this season.

IN: Xhevahir Sukaj (Partizani Tirana)

OUT: Razali Kandasamy (released), Erick Weeks Lewis (Madura United)

PAHANG

Fallen Cup masters Pahang have replaced their entire foreign cast for the second half of the season. Slovenian duo Nejc Potokar and Dalibor Volas, along with German Pacheco, made way for Pablo Vranjican, Faysal Shayesteh and Jailton. Former captain Zesh Rehman's departure was counterbalanced by the arrival of talented youngsters R. Kogileswaran and R. Dinesh from Frenz United.

OUT: Nejc Potokar (released), Dalibor Volas (released), Zesh Rahman (released), German Pacheco (Wilstermann)

PENANG

The Panthers made headlines for their off-field changes after appointing former Kelantan and JDT coach Bojan Hodak as chief executive officer. The Croatian swiftly moved to shake things by installing countryman Nenad Bacina as head coach. For now, the players remain the same, even though Hodak could move for East Bengal striker Randi Martins, who is on the island for a trial.
