Chiefs switch seven for Cheetahs game

The Chiefs today made seven personnel changes to their starting 15 for the Super 14 match against the Cheetahs in Hamilton on Friday night.

Two of the changes come in a loose forward trio that has been reshuffled for the second week in succession.

Marty Holah is back in his familiar No 7 jersey, while Kristian Ormsby comes in as blindside flanker.

In the tight five, Sean Hohneck gets the nod at lock, while prop Nathan White and hooker Aleki Lutu are also selected in the run-on side.

At halfback, Jamie Nutbrown replaces Byron Kelleher, who drops to the bench, while Anthony Tahana, who scored two tries in the win over the Stormers last weekend, will start on one wing.

Tahana's inclusion sees Sosene Anesi moving to fullback, with Mils Muliaini, who suffered a bruised groin against the Stormers, bracketed in the reserves.

Meanwhile, team management said a decision on whether No 8 Sione Lauaki required surgery would be made later this week.

Lauaki has been sidelined since tearing his pectoral muscle in the draw against the Bulls two rounds ago.

Against the Cheetahs, Liam Messam will move from blindside flanker to No 8, replacing Steven Bates, who started in the position against the Stormers.

The Chiefs will again be captained by lock Jono Gibbes, who is recovering from a rib and back strain received in training yesterday.

The Chiefs: Sosene Anesi, Anthony Tahana, Niva Ta'auso, Sam Tuitupou, Sitiveni Sivivatu, Stephen Donald, Jamie Nutbrown, Liam Messam, Marty Holah, Kristian Ormsby, Sean Hohneck, Jono Gibbes (captain), Nathan White, Aleki Lutui, Simms Davison.

Reserves: Tom Willis, Ben Castle, Bernie Upton, Steven Bates, Byron Kelleher, David Hill, Mils Muliaina/Loki Crichton.
