Romania and Japan look to re-group

Romania and Japan will hope to forget the memories of last week's thumping defeats in Britan when they meet in Bucharest this Saturday.

"We have to improve our defensive lines and play offensively against Japan," Romania captain Alin Petrache said, after their 66-7 defeat to Wales last Friday night. "I'm convinced that Romania will show its best against Japan."

"Hooker Razvan Mavrodin will replace Bogdan Zebega, who will be on the bench," said Robert Antonin. Teenage scrumhalf Valentin Calafeteanu and winger Bogdan Voicu will also face the Japanese.

Japan make changes from the side crushed 108-0 by Scotland. "Romania are a strong team but we'll try to lift ourselves to their level," Japan manager Noboru Mashimo said. "Our line-up is the best of the moment." Centre Masatoshi Mukoyama replaces Yukio Motoki and winger Hiroki Mizuno comes in for Hayato Daimon.
