The Australian Rugby Union have expressed their delight at the amount of people who have expressed a desire to be part of their Rugby World Cup 2003 workforce.
In a statement to all those who have applied Brendan Gregor, Human Resources Manager for RWC'03
commented, "We are delighted with the tremendous interest shown in joining our team as we work with the International Rugby Board to stage the best ever Rugby World Cup."
The ARU are keen to stress that they have had over 10,500 people register to volunteer and a further 1,500 people register their desire to obtain paid work with the ARU but their requirements for the tournament are 1,000 volunteers and a further 120 paid staff.
The ARU is now starting the recruitment and selection phase for volunteer and paid roles for RWC 2003. The initial stages of our recruitment and selection process will be handled through our Host Union website at www.rugby2003.com.au.
The on-line recruitment system gives apllicants the ability to search for volunteer and paid roles by location and by function, then apply on-line for those roles that suits their needs and skill set.
Hopefuls will then go through an interview process before being appointed to roles.
The ARU are currently in discussion with State and ACT Governments in relation to their possible requirements and this information will also be updated on our website under Get Involved.
