Wasps' star Lawrence Dallaglio is set to complete his reabilitation from injury by being named today in the England match squad to face Italy in their final Six Nations on Sunday.
Dallaglio proved his fitness by leading London Wasps to their shock 36-24 triumph over champions elect Leicester at Loftus Road and his reward is inclusion in the England match squad to be named later today.
The Evening Standard reports that head coach Clive Woodward has decided to name Dallaglio as a replacement pending a final decision on the readiness of Leicester's Lewis Moody to play in Rome on Sunday.
Moody received a head injury in the record win over Wales and sat out the defeat by Wasps in a bid to ensure he was available for a match England may have to win to clinch the championship.
Dallaglio needed surgery to repair torn ligaments after returning home early from last summer's Lions tour. The knee was originally hurt playing for Wasps against Bath in the Zurich Premiership play-offs last May, but Dallaglio was considered fit enough to tour.
Dallaglio was justifiably proud of his Wasps team following the win over Leicester, "It's amazing how much confidence comes flooding back into a squad after a win like that and we will be dangerous for anyone if we keep this going and make this season's Premiership play-offs.
"I completed my first full game since the injury and as far as England is concerned, it's a case of waiting and seeing if I get picked for the Italy game. My father, Vincenzo, is going to be the interpreter for England again - he had that role two years ago - and being there would be a good way of making sure he's on top of the job.
"When I got injured, I just kept out of the way and shut myself out of the whole world. I probably didn't play as much of a role in the club as I could have done. Year on year we have been quite competitive. This season we haven't been."
