Sir Ewart Bell, the former Chairman of the International Rugby Board has died.
He was director of the Rugby World Cup in 1991 and 1995, and President of the Irish Rugby Football Union for many years having previously been capped by Ireland in the 1950s.
Professionally, he rose to the position of Head of the Civil Service in Northern Ireland. The Ulsterman died suddenly on Tuesday evening. He was 76.
