Forster leads Wales in Argentina

Newport flanker Jason Forster will captain Wales in next month's Rugby World Cup Sevens in Argentina.

Forster, formerly with Bedford, is one of three survivors from the 1997 RWC Sevens finals in Hong Kong when Tonga beat Wales in the quarter-finals of the plate competition. The others are Pontypridd wing Gareth Wyatt and Bridgend back-row man Jamie Ringer.

Newport pair Andy Marinos and Emyr Lewis are also in the 10-man squad bound for Argentina on the weekend of 27-28 January.

Bristol scrum-half Gareth Baber is included for the first time, while Llanelli flier Mark Jones, Cross Keys No 8 Will Thomas and Caerphilly stand-off Luke Richards will get their first taste of international sevens under coach John Ryan.

Wales also intend to take part in the IRB World Sevens Series rounds in New Zealand 9-10 February, and Australia the following weekend. The final round of the series is due to be played at the Millennium Stadium in June.
