Ireland have appointed Ed Joyce as high performance batting coach. He begins his role immediately and will coach the senior men's team, as well as being involved with their male talent pathway.
Joyce, who played international cricket for both Ireland and England, retired as a player in 2018. Soon after, he joined the Ireland women's team as their head coach. He stayed in that role for almost six years before he resigned in April 2025.
He has since worked as a batting coach at Gloucestershire in county cricket and for Dublin Guardians in the ETPL, as well as working as a broadcaster.
"Once I retired from playing, staying involved in Irish cricket was a high priority for me," Joyce said in a statement. "When I look at the Ireland men's side over recent years, it's obvious to see the amount of hard work that has gone on behind the scenes in preparing our players to be competitive on the international stage.
"I look forward to getting involved in this work and perhaps adding some insights and knowledge to push the batting group forward. The talent is there, the goal is now consistency."
Joyce will work alongside Gary Wilson, the head coach of the men's team, and Graeme West, the high performance director. The senior team's last action was their five-match ODI series against Afghanistan at home in August, which they lost 4-0. Their next big assignment is the 2027 ODI World Cup Qualifier, which will be played from February 22 to March 23.
