South Africa rung in the changes as they seek to seal the series against Australia in the second ODI, a significant one for the country: pink day. The annual match to raise awareness for breast cancer detection and funds for treatment is a much-loved recent tradition in the country and will, for the first time, see players wear the names of breast cancer survivors.
Notably, Aiden Markram, back in the side after missing match one for personal reasons will have women's international Tazmin Brits' mother's name, Zeldine, on his back while David Miller will honour his own mother, Jenny. Tristan Stubbs, who was also out of the first match, will wear Simon Hewitt's name to bring the spotlight on the 1% of men who also suffer from breast cancer.
The South African batters will be in action first after Australia won a second toss and again hoped to make use of early moisture by bowling first. Markram and Stubbs are two of four changes for the hosts, with Tony de Zorzi on the bench and Ryan Rickelton given the day off for personal reasons. Bowlers Corbin Bosch and Gerald Coetzee sat out in favour of Duan Jansen and Lizaad Williams. Duan will join his twin brother Marco, as the pair play an international together for the first time.
Australia were forced to make a switch after an injury to Josh Inglis ruled him out of the series. Alex Carey returns take the wicket-keeping gloves and has been listed to bat at No.4. Mitchell Starc was rotated out as he prepares for the Tests with Xavier Bartlett in the XI but Pat Cummins remains out of the side. Cummins was expected to play at least one of the three matches and may be saved for the series decider on Wednesday.
