1.45pm: That, ladies and gentleman, has been the England Test summer of 2026. First it was no change, then it was all change. We're back in the Joe Root Era, and England back in the black after defeat to NZ earlier in the season. Anyway, Valkerie's report will be on the site soon, and there'll be plenty more to come from the guys at the ground. As always, it's been emotional. 1.20pm: Let's go to the presentations... starting with Player of the Match, Dan Lawrence: "Wasn't the ideal start, Abbas doing what he usually does and put the ball in the right area. Thankfully we had the experience of Joe and a bit of class from Coxy to get us over the line. Been a great start. Always runs, although I feel I left a few out there. Nice to take a good catch and a couple of wickets. Got off to a nice start, wanted top cash in but wasn't meant to be. Frustrating I didn't get more. Pitches, barring this one, have been tricky to bat on. Fifties have been great scores and they've been worth a lot more. [No hundred] I think if I keep playing the way I am, that three figures will come. I'm desperate to get multiple hundreds for England. Hopefully get the nod to keep playing and I feel in a really good place."

Mohammad Abbas is Pakistan's Player of the Series: [Early wickets] "Anything is possible in cricket, and my specialty is taking wickets with the new ball. We had a chat, said anything is possible and we tried our best. [Missed chances] We've been trying hard, sometimes you are bowling no-balls. [Razaullah stand] It was a good moment for us, the series was lost so everyone chipped in. I really enjoyed playing against him in first-class cricket, against us he scored some runs. He has a very good future. [Lord's five-for] Special moment for me, I took eight wickets in 2018, then I took four again this series, so I gave everything for my five-for. Everyone's tried their best, we thought it would be hot but the weather wasn't like that. Not the result we wanted but everyone tried hard. I'm working with my trainer on my fitness so hopefully I can play more."

Ollie Robinson is England Player of the Series, and Rothesay Test Player of the Summer: "Very special. Always nice to cap it off with 3-0 win. Thought I'd never play for England again, to get the opportunity and grab it with both hands, hopefully I can keep that going. Definitely, got that inner drive and ambition to push on. The hard work's not done yet, we're just getting started. [Pitches] Been a strange one, we expected flatter wickets, but they've nipped a lot with the new balls, the balls are slightly hard and it's done more than previous summers. We'll have to adapt again in SA this winter. As a four, it's great to be part of that attack, with three guys that can bowl 90mph. Really special bowling group. Smudge has helped me get a lot of wickets coming up to the stumps, made it look easy. And for Coxy to come in and get five, it shows where the group is at."

Pakistan captain, Babar Azam: [Good start] "Belief was high with two wickets in the first over, but they played very well. [Missing spinner?] Don't think so, the conditions have been grassy and that's why we played with three fast bowlers. [Razaullah] We enjoyed it, everyone did. He's a very good talent and it's good for us. [Knew anything about him?] Not too much, to be honest. I learned about his batting, as he came in as an opener [for Peshawar]. Before we came here, we had to think about the team, and we made a couple of changes. Coming to England it is difficult for the batters and fast-bowling group. We need to sit down and admit our mistakes, and then work out our best XI. [Stay on as captain?] Yes, but different series you need players for the conditions, but the new boys have done well."

England captain, Joe Root: [3-0, couldn't have gone better] "Exactly that. We've had things go our way and had a bit of push back yesterday, which was quite good for the group. To come through it and be so convincing finishing it off was positive. [Razaullah] We didn't have a lot to work with, he played some wonderful shots and made it quite difficult. He played nicely. For us, at the start of the game, if you'd say we're chasing 130, you'd take it. There's lots of information to work with and puts us in a nice place for the winter. [Bowling to tail] More of a theme across the board. Guys can bat lower down. We'll do our work and make sure we're better prepared. [No hundreds] Everyone wants to go on but that's been the nature of the summer. Last couple of days, we've seen more normal Test cricket. Guys have got in and you get a rhythm for batting. To be 2 for 2 and have two guys not out at the end is encouraging. Different challenges in the winter, different surfaces, but can we keep moving forward as a group. We still got 400 twice in these conditions, so lots of good stuff. [Cox] Five dismissals, it went under the radar how well he stepped up. Great maturity and calmness, and really taken to role at No.3. Amount of noise and chaos coming in, the way guys have dealt with that and been clinical, to get 3-0 is really pleasing. Start of a new era with Stephen Fleming coming in, but we couldn't have done that without what Brendon and Ben did before. We'll keep trying to evolve and improve. [Trescothick] He's been awesome, can't be easy when you know it's not long term,being able to juggle that and have an influence on the group. He'll be better for the experience, he's a wonderful coach and hopefully I get to work with him for a lot longer."

1.10pm: Handshakes in the middle, Razaullah in particular gets a smile and a nod. Root and Cox then walk off to applause from the crowd and their team-mates. It was a more circuitous route to victory than England would have imagined - not least when they were reduced to 2 for 2 in the first over this morning - but there were in the end comfortable winners, despite Pakistan finally finding their mongrel. Little bit of red ink for the England captain at the end there, too, taking his average for the summer back up above 30
