Harlequins have signed Samoan international hooker Elia Elia on a short term deal as director of rugby John Kingston looks for injury cover in the position.

The 20 year-old former Crusaders development squad member has been capped three times by Samoa and was part of a Samoan team that trained with Quins at the start of November.

"As things stand within our squad, we have one or two injuries in the hooker position," said Kingston. "For this reason we have brought in Elia Elia as cover for us on a short term contract.

"He is a player who came on to our radar when we trained with Samoa recently. I'm delighted that he has taken the opportunity to join up with our squad and I'm sure he will make a valuable impact."
