Mercedes completes 286 laps in 2017 Pirelli tyre tests

Mercedes

Mercedes has completed its first three days of testing Pirelli's prototype 2017 tyres at Paul Ricard.

Following Ferrari and Red Bulls tests in August, Ferrari and Mercedes simultaneously conducted tests in Barcelona and Paul Ricard this week. Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel completed 267 laps over two days at the Circuit de Catalunya.

Mercedes, whose first test ran from Tuesday to Thursday, completed 286 with Manor's Pascal Wehrlein at the wheel. The team was testing using a 2015 car which has been modified to simulate the increased downforce levels set to come into F1 under the rule changes next year.

The next date in the Pirelli test calendar is again with Mercedes and at Paul Ricard, though it will be to test the wet tyres. The test will take place on September 21-22.
