Ferrari holping to solve Barcelona qualifying struggles

Sebastian Vettel says Ferrari's main focus in Barcelona's in-season tests is to solve the problems that led to its disappointing qualifying performance at the Spanish Grand Prix.

F1's teams have remained at the Circuit de Catalunya for two days of testing this week, with Vettel driving the car on Tuesday. Ferrari had to settle for the third row at last weekend's race after its pace mysteriously dropped off in qualifying, which ultimately cost the team its best chance of winning once Mercedes' crash handed the race lead to Red Bull.

Speaking after the opening morning of testing, Vettel said: "Well I think it's a unique chance to have the opportunity right after the Grand Prix to test at the same track, all in the same conditions. It's not a big secret Saturday we struggled a bit so we tried some stuff this morning, we need to have a good look but it's not the only thing we are here for today, obviously you try to do everything."

Vettel says Ferrari cost itself the win in qualifying.

"Well if you get Saturday right then they shouldn't be too much of a threat. Of course they've kept improving, so did we, but I think it's clear that Saturday didn't go as well as what we thought and what we hoped. If we had qualified a bit higher up then it could have been a different race but would, could, should. We know the result now, we know where to work on so some of that we try to do here and some of that we try to do over the next couple of weeks and months."

Vettel ended the morning in second position, 0.010s behind a super-soft lap from Jenson Button.
