Physics-defying ping pong shot

For most of the world, ping pong is a relatively straightforward game. You hit the ball back and forth to your opponent, maybe test their backhand or forehand and try a drop shot or two.

At the professional level, things get a little more complicated. Highlight-reel rallies and shots increasingly find their way online, showcasing the incredible hand-eye coordination that pros can use to return angry forehand smashes and side-spinning backhands that would leave a casual player swiping at the air.

Finnish table tennis player Miikka O'Connor is a professional, as he showed during the Finlandia Open tournament this past December. It is there that he unleashed this unbelievable backhand that left his opponent reaching in vain.

O'Connor ended last year as the 729th-ranked table tennis player in the world, according to the International Table Tennis Federation. Imagine what the other 728 players in front of him are capable of.
