Anderson, Hines lead Tarleton State over Prairie View A&M 49-30
STEPHENVILLE, Texas -- — Kaden Anderson accounted for four touchdowns, Tylan Hines added 184 yards rushing and two scores, and Tarleton State rolled to a 49-30 victory over Prairie View A&M on Saturday night in the season opener for both teams.
Hines broke loose on a 63-yard touchdown run that stretched Tarleton State's lead to 35-20 with 12:28 left in the third quarter. About five minutes later, Anderson's 2-yard TD plunge made it 42-20. Anderson finished 15-of-21 passing for 224 yards with two touchdown passes to Marquis Willis and another to Tanner Schmidt.
Braedyn Locke completed all five of his pass attempts in the fourth quarter, including a touchdown pass for the Texans.
Tevin Carter was 25-of-40 passing for 309 yards and he added 130 yards on the ground on 14 carries for Prairie View A&M. He had a 4-yard touchdown run just before halftime to cut the Panthers' deficit to 28-20. He threw a 53-yard touchdown pass to Jahbari Kuykendall that ended the scoring with 9:51 left.
The Texans, ranked fifth in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 poll, are 3-0 in a series that includes double-digit wins in 1994 and 1995.
Prairie View A&M: hosts Texas Southern on Sunday.
