Victor Payne, James Jones rally Central Connecticut to 78-71 victory over Dartmouth in OT
HANOVER, N.H. -- — Victor Payne had 17 points, James Jones scored 15 and Central Connecticut pulled away in overtime to beat Dartmouth 78-71 on Sunday.
Payne went 6 of 9 from the field (5 for 8 from 3-point range) for the Blue Devils (1-2). Jones sank 7 of 12 shots with a 3-pointer and grabbed seven rebounds. Ashton Reynolds scored 13 on 5-for-9 shooting.
Cameron McNamee finished with 20 points and six rebounds to pace the Big Green (2-1). Anton Strelnikov added 15 points and Cam Hiatt scored nine.
Raphel Laurent made a layup with 42 seconds left for Central Connecticut to tie it 66-all and force OT.
Payne hit a go-ahead 3-pointer and the Blue Devils kept the lead over the final 1:46 of the extra period.
