Wright's game-winner leads Drake over Evansville, 78-75
EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- — Atin Wright scored the game-winning 3-pointer with one second remaining and scored 26 points to lead Drake past Evansville 78-75 on Tuesday night.
Wright shot 9 for 14 (4 for 7 from 3-point range) and 4 of 4 from the free throw line for the Bulldogs (21-5, 12-3 Missouri Valley Conference). Tucker DeVries scored 17 points and added 10 rebounds. Kevin Overton had 15 points and was 5 of 8 shooting (4 for 6 from 3-point range).
The Purple Aces (15-11, 6-9) were led by Ben Humrichous, who recorded 18 points and six rebounds. Kenny Strawbridge added 12 points for Evansville. In addition, Joshua Hughes had 11 points, two steals and two blocks.
The game was tied at 37 at halftime.
Both teams next play Sunday. Drake hosts Murray State and Evansville plays Illinois State on the road.
