ELON, N.C. -- — Xander Rice's 31 points led Monmouth over Elon 85-70 on Saturday.
Rice was 9 of 21 shooting, including 6 for 15 from 3-point range, and went 7 for 7 from the line for the Hawks (17-14, 10-8 Coastal Athletic Association). Jaret Valencia scored 15 points while going 6 of 10 and 2 of 4 from the free throw line, and added eight rebounds. Nikita Konstantynovskyi was 4 of 9 shooting and 5 of 6 from the free throw line to finish with 13 points, while adding 13 rebounds.
The Phoenix (13-18, 6-12) were led by TK Simpkins, who recorded 31 points, nine rebounds, five assists and two steals. Nick Dorn added 11 points for Elon.
