Austin Peay beats Murray State 53-49 after tornado delays start
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -- — Demarcus Sharp had 20 points in Austin Peay's 53-49 win against Murray State on Saturday night after a tornado delayed the start of the game.
The tornado touched down in the early afternoon north of Clarksville on the border with Kentucky.
Sharp had nine rebounds for the Governors (5-6). Dezi Jones scored 10 points while going 3 of 12 (2 for 9 from 3-point range). Ja'Monta Black had nine points and finished 3 of 9 from 3-point range.
Brian Moore Jr. led the Racers (3-5) in scoring, finishing with 12 points. Nick Ellington added 11 points, six rebounds and two blocks for Murray State. In addition, Rob Perry finished with eight points and seven rebounds.
