AKRON, Ohio -- — Enrique Freeman scored 20 points as Akron beat Western Michigan 77-66 on Tuesday night.
Freeman also had 14 rebounds and three blocks for the Zips (13-4, 5-0 Mid-American Conference). Sammy Hunter scored 19 points while shooting 7 for 12, including 3 for 5 from beyond the arc. Ali Ali was 5 of 10 shooting, including 1 for 3 from 3-point range, and went 7 for 8 from the line to finish with 18 points.
The Broncos (7-10, 4-1) were led by Jefferson Monegro, who recorded 17 points. Western Michigan also got 10 points, seven rebounds and three blocks from Javonte Brown. Javaughn Hannah also had 10 points and two steals. The loss broke the Broncos' five-game winning streak.
