Sykes' 17 help Texas State defeat Appalachian State 63-56
SAN MARCOS, Texas -- — Davion Sykes had 17 points in Texas State's 63-56 win over Appalachian State on Wednesday night.
Sykes added 11 rebounds for the Bobcats (10-14, 4-8 Sun Belt Conference). Jordan Mason shot 5 for 14, including 2 for 3 from beyond the arc to add 12 points. Christian Turner was 4 of 6 shooting and 3 of 6 from the free throw line to finish with 11 points.
Terence Harcum led the way for the Mountaineers (19-5, 10-2) with 13 points and three steals. Donovan Gregory added 12 points for Appalachian State. In addition, Myles Tate had 11 points, seven rebounds and five assists. The loss ended an eight-game winning streak for the Mountaineers.
