HUNTSVILLE, Texas -- — Lamar Wilkerson had 21 points in Sam Houston's 78-74 victory over Western Kentucky on Wednesday night.
Wilkerson shot 7 for 12 (4 for 7 from 3-point range) and 3 of 4 from the free throw line for the Bearkats (9-8, 2-0 Conference USA). Marcus Boykin scored 17 points, shooting 6 of 9 from the field and 4 for 4 from the line. Souleymane Doumbia shot 4 for 9 (1 for 3 from 3-point range) and 3 of 4 from the free throw line to finish with 12 points.
Don McHenry finished with 15 points and three steals for the Hilltoppers (12-4, 1-1). Western Kentucky also got 14 points from Brandon Newman. The loss snapped the Hilltoppers' eight-game winning streak.
