Mahoney, Whyte lead Boston University past Holy Cross 79-64
WORCESTER, Mass. -- Max Mahoney scored 18 points and Walter Whyte added a double-double as Boston University jumped out to a big first-half lead and coasted past Holy Cross 79-64 on Saturday.
Mahoney made 8 of 12 shots from the floor for Boston University (11-10, 5-3 Patriot League), which shot 50% overall (31 of 62) and led 43-27 at halftime. Mahoney added six rebounds and six assists as the Terriers snapped a two-game skid. Whyte finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. Javante McCoy pitched in with 12 points and six assists, while reserve Fletcher Tynen hit all four of his shots and scored 12.
Joe Pridgen paced Holy Cross (3-18, 2-6) with 20 points and eight rebounds. Austin Butler and Matt Faw scored 13 and 12, respectively. The Crusaders shot 42% from the floor, 37.5% from distance (9 of 24) and made 5 of 9 foul shots.
