Gotham FC, Kansas City Current settle for 1-1 draw
NJ/NY Gotham FC and Kansas City Current played to a 1-1 draw on Saturday at Red Bull Arena.
Temwa Chawinga opened the scoring in the 17th minute for Kansas City, while Esther González equalized shortly after halftime for Gotham FC.
Chawinga's goal came thanks to an assist from Bia Zaneratto following a fast break to give Kansas City (3-1-0) an early lead.
"It was a great team effort," said Chawinga after the game. "Bia set me up perfectly, and I just had to finish it."
Meanwhile, González scored on a header from Yazmeen Ryan's cross following a corner kick, her first goal of this season.
