Maksim Medvedev's early strike proved enough for Azerbaijan to secure a shock win over Norway in their World Cup qualifying Group C clash in Baku.

Medvedev threaded a low shot past visiting keeper Rune Jarstein to put the hosts in front and they hung on to maintain their 100 percent start, having also won their opener in San Marino last month.

Markus Henriksen and Haitam Aleesami were among those who missed good chances as the visitors failed to break down a resolute home defence.

In direct contrast to their opponents, Norway are yet to claim their first point in the group having lost their opening game 3-0 to Germany in Oslo last month.
