Bayern Munich cruise to victory over AC Milan in Audi Cup

Juan Bernat, Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski scored as hosts Bayern Munich controlled AC Milan to win 3-0 in the Audi Cup on Tuesday.

Bernat's shot from the left took a large deflection off Milan defender Cristian Zapata to open the scoring in the 23rd minute.

Newcomers Arturo Vidal and Douglas Costa proved constant threats for Bayern in the first half.

Vidal saw an early free kick fly just over the bar, then had another shot come off the bar shortly before the break.

Costa showed off his speed to burst in on goal but his initial shot was saved by Diego Lopez and his rebound was too high.

As the teams returned from half-time, Milan's Nigel de Jong got into a shouting match with Bayern manager Pep Guardiola, and the midfielder soon provided his side's best chance to equalise, his screaming volley from the top of the box curling wide.

Gotze made the lead comfortable with a left-footed shot in the 73rd minute and Lewandowski made it 3-0 in the 85th minute.

Following a defensive gaffe by Alex, Thomas Muller lofted a short pass for his teammate to volley into the back of the net.

The German champions will face Real Madrid in the final of the preseason tournament on Wednesday, while the consolation match will feature Milan against Tottenham.

American international Julian Green came on to play the final four minutes for Bayern Munich.
