Augsburg picked up their first win of the Bundesliga season to leave Hannover inside the bottom three with a 2-0 triumph at the Augsburg Arena.
Alexander Esswein gave Markus Weinzierl's men the lead, which was added to by captain Paul Verhaegh from the penalty spot just two minutes later.
Hannover failed to recover from the double blow and had Tim Matavz not been so wasteful, their punishment could have been much harsher, but Augsburg nevertheless were able to break their duck at the fifth attempt.
Hannover, meanwhile, have lost four in a row after starting the season with a draw at Darmstadt. The pressure is mounting on coach Michael Frontzeck.
