Spence hat-trick sinks Moore's men

Greig Spence's hat-trick ensured Allan Moore's return to the dugout was a miserable one as Alloa defeated Arbroath 4-1 in the Petrofac Training Cup.Moore is back in the hotseat after being sacked by Morton in November but was forced to wait for his first win thanks to Stephen Simmons' first-half volley and Greig Spence's treble, which came in 29 second-half minutes. The visitors broke the deadlock inside the opening 10 minutes, Simmons smashing home a volley after the ball had been semi-cleared to him on the edge of the penalty area.Daryll Meggatt twice went close with headers before the break before Spence eventually doubled the advantage in the 54th minute by turning home a cutback.Ryan McCord fired over with a good chance but Spence added a third anyway, finishing in style after being sent clear by Kevin Cawley. And the striker ensured it was a day to remember with a header rounding off his hat-trick.There was at least something for Moore to cheer when Simon Murray cashed in after a deflected shot fell into his path, meaning Alloa missed out on a clean sheet.
