Group E whipping boys Pandurii Targu Jiu and Pacos Ferreira brought their dismal Europa League campaigns to a close with a goalless draw. The pair completed their respective campaigns with just five points between them and having long since lost all hope of qualifying for the last 32.Currently rock-bottom of the Portuguese Liga after suffering back-to-back defeats, Pacos at least avoided a similar fate in Europe with the draw enough to keep them one point clear of their rivals. But their night still ended on a low note when Andre Leao was sent off for a second bookable offence in the 89th minute.Paolo Hurtado and Jean Michael Seri both had early chances as the visitors started well, while Pandurii had to wait until the 16th minute for their first real chance when Erico brought a save out of Matias Degra. His opposite number Razvan Stanca had to be alert to save from Carlao but it was the hosts who were pressing, Viorel Nicoara missing the target for the home side just before the half-hour and Nicandro Breeveld missing an even better chance moments later.Alex Dos Santos and Nicoara both had chances towards the end of the half as the home side finished well on top.A slower second half almost saw the visitors take the lead in the 62nd minute when Carlao drew a fine save from Stanca, then both Sergio Oliveira and Hurtado missed good chances.Tiago Valente brought another save out of Stanca in the 82nd minute and Bebe also came close before the visitors' night was soured by Leao's dismissal.

        Viola held in Pacos stalemate

#INSERT type:image caption:Fiorentina's Marko Bakic takes on Ruben Ribeiro. END# Fiorentina were held to a 0-0 draw at Pacos Ferreira in a low-key Europa League Group E match. The Viola, having already assured themselves a place in the last 32 of the competition after four wins from four group games, left out their top stars for the encounter in Portugal. The closest either side came to scoring was in the 86th minute, when Fiorentina goalkeeper Gustavo Munua was forced to stretch to clear Manuel Vieira's stinging drive from 30 yards. The outcome leaves Fiorentina leading the pool with 13 points, one clear of FC Dnipro, who have secured second place and qualified for the next round. The Italians go into their final match against Dnipro on Dec. 12 with top spot on the line.Winless Pacos, meanwhile, at the foot of the standings, will be looking to end the competition with victory at Pandurii. The hosts enjoyed a strong start and threatened in the 12th minute when Ruben Ribeiro surged into the area and fired a right-footed shot that went just wide of the far post.Bebe wasted a good chance to put Pacos ahead in the 20th minute when he hit the ball straight at Fiorentina goalkeeper Gustavo Munua from a good position. Before half-time, Nenad Tomovic blocked Tony's goalbound attempt from outside the area as the hosts looked more dangerous. The visitors showed more determination after the restart and had their best chance in the 76th minute, when Alberto Aquilani's powerful header from Matias Fernadez's cross was kept out by Pacos goalkeeper Antonio Filippe. At the other end, Munua was called into action to clear Vieira's attempt from outside the area. With four minutes remaining, Fiorentina's Marcos Alonso fired a shot just over the bar in what was the last chance of the game.
