Commentary
The final whistle echoes around a steadily emptying Etihad Stadium as Manchester City beat AEK Athens 5-1 with a truly dazzling display. Anderson opened the scoring with his first goal in Sky Blue as he powered in from a Fernandez free-kick rebound off the bar. It was 2-0 before the interval, as a fluid home move came to fruition with the dovetailing Lewis and Foden, with the latter powering high past Brignoli. After a dismal showing in the opening stages, the truly awesome visiting AEK fans were rewarded in the second half as a fine-finishing Pelios made it 2-1. However, Cherki helped the hosts back into control after sending Arriaga for some refreshments on the edge of the box with a dastardly cut-back and finish just before the hour. Five minutes later, the Citizens' fourth goal came as Lewis cushioned down a Cherki diagonal ball for Foden to stroke into the upper reaches of the top left. He then rounded off a great personal outing to grab his hat-trick - tapping in from a smart McAidoo cross. With this relentless performance, the number 47 now marks his first Champions League hat-trick, and gives Maresca plenty to think about with four goals in his last two outings in all competitions. After this 2.84 xG-thumping goal fest, City move up to sixth. Despite their fine following, Nikolic's Athenians continue down in 26th place. At least they left with something as they played above their 0.72 xG with aplomb. Thanks for joining us tonight. Goodbye!
FULL-TIME: MANCHESTER CITY 5-1 AEK ATHENS
There'll be a minimum of two added minutes here.
This will be a great experience for City's youngsters. They're getting plenty of touches as the home side continue to pop the ball around smartly. Gacinovic nearly causes a stir as he strikes from halfway with Donnarumma off his line. Yet, the Italian watches it wide.
Cherki sees a shot blocked before a couple of bitty tackles break the play up as this game drifts to its conclusion.

The second of the latest double AEK switch sees the much-isolated Jovic head off for Milan Vitalis.
