Broncos coach Sean Payton said when the roster was cut to 53 players quarterback Sam Ehlinger had turned away multiple chances to be on another team's roster to instead sign on to the Broncos' practice squad. Saturday, it was the Broncos who moved Ehlinger to the active roster when defensive tackle Malcolm Roach was moved to injured reserve with a calf injury. Roach suffered the injury in Thursday's practice.
