Singapore's involvement with the Malaysia Super League (MSL) may be over, but the Sultan of Selangor's Cup has been confirmed for another year.
Singapore will travel to Shah Alam Stadium on May. 7 to play Selangor in the annual showcase after last year's edition was called off.
Severe haze forced the cancellation of the 2015 edition on Oct. 4, even though Singapore's squad had already made the trip north for the game.
That, and LionsXII's expulsion from Malaysian competitions at the end of last year, means that the 2016 edition should be more eagerly awaited than normal.
"The date has been cleared by both parties," organising chairman Tan Sri Abdul Karim Munisar told The Star.
"I'm confident the fans are looking forward to the match now that Singapore's LionsXII are no longer part of the Malaysian Super League."
Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah began the event in 2001 to encourage closer relations between Selangor and Singapore.
The last edition, held in 2014, saw Selangor defeat Singapore 2-1, thanks to a brace from Brazilian striker Paulo Rangel.
