Valencia's Francis Coquelin out for season with ruptured Achilles tendon

Valencia midfielder Francis Coquelin will miss the rest of the season with after rupturing his Achilles tendon in training on Friday at the Ciutat Esportiva de Paterna.

The club released a statement saying that Coquelin "has been taken to hospital and will undergo a surgical intervention in the next hours."

The 26-year-old has impressed at the Spanish club since he moved from Arsenal in a €10 million deal in January, appearing in 11 matches and scoring one goal in a 2-1 win at Malaga.

It was Coquelin's first goal in over seven years, having failed to find the net in his previous 105 games at Arsenal, who tweeted their support for their former midfielder.
