Josh Hamilton begins rehab assignment

Texas Rangers slugger Josh Hamilton went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run scored as the designated hitter for Double-A Frisco on Wednesday in the first game of his rehab assignment. He will join Triple-A Round Rock in New Orleans on Thursday.

Hamilton hasn't played since he strained his left hamstring on his game-ending two-run double in a 4-3 win over Boston on May 31, which wrapped up his first week back with Texas.

Matt Harrison, who is trying to work his way back to the majors after a spinal fusion procedure, pitched six innings and allowed five runs on nine hits and three walks with three strikeouts.

Notes: Outfielder Michael Choice has been recalled from Triple-A Round Rock and will be active for tonight's game against Oakland. Choice hit .242 with seven home runs, 15 doubles and 33 RBIs in 61 games for the Express. In a corresponding move, lefty Alex Claudio was sent back to Triple-A. Claudio is 1-1 with a 2.87 ERA in 18 appearances over two stints with the Rangers this season.
